About The Clever Kitty
Hi there! My name is Shannon Hanley, and I am the creative designer and maker of all of the products at The Clever Kitty.
I have a passion for creating fun & fashionable items for babies, kids, and their moms. I love classic styles, bright colors, and
playful patterns. I love to discover new ways of creating, and both my knitting and wire work are self-taught. All of my designs are original, and I always take the
time & care necessary to make a quality hand-crafted product. Here's a little more about me:I grew up in Iowa, and spent much of my time as a child doing art or craft projects. When I graduated from high school I knew that I wanted to continue my creative ways, and decided to go to the Kansas City Art Institute, where I earned my BFA in Fiber Arts. I lived in Kansas City for several years working as a designer and garment cutter, until my husband and I embarked on the adventure of moving to the east coast. We are now living on the beautiful coast of Maine with our adorable daughter, who keeps us joyful and inspired...and quite busy! Upon moving to Maine, I also decided to look for work in another creative field, and began working as a floral designer. I have now been working at a florist for over 6 years, creating floral designs for all occasions, my favorite of which is weddings.
No matter what job I have, I am always looking for new outlets for my creativity. When I found Etsy, it was a match made in heaven! I set up my Etsy shop in January 2006, and was so excited about it that I soon got involved with Etsy's Teams to help spread the word about Etsy. In September 2006, I founded & became the leader for the EtsyKids Team, which is a group of talented & dedicated Etsy sellers making items for babies, toddlers, and children. I am also a proud member of the Etsy Maine Team. Etsy has become so much more than just a selling venue for me; it is a way of life. I am eager to share my love of handmade living with the world, and have teamed up with some members of the EtsyKids Team to create the magazine modern handmade child, which I am co-editor of.
